  1. HDL cholesterol refers to the serum concentration of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Diabetes mellitus was a fasting or random plasma glucose level exceeding 7.0 or 11.1 mmol/L, or use of antidiabetic agents. Hypertension was a blood pressure of ≥140 mm Hg systolic or ≥90 mm Hg diastolic or use of antihypertensive drugs.
