The presence of the mutation can be directly visualized by fragment size analysis of a fluorescently labeled PCR product containing the mutation as shown on the left. Note that the mutant allele with the 6 bp-insertion is present in heterozygous form in ‘Campus’ and in CPS affected piglets at different ratio.
